Sweeney's Launches 7th Nationwide Search for Tales of Despair from Mole-Afflicted Homeowners

Grand Prize Winner of "I hate mole because" Contest Will Receive $500

LITITZ, PA - June 3, 2013 - Anyone who has ever said, "You're making a mountain out of a molehill" clearly does not understand the frustration, agitation and downright despair moles are capable of causing homeowners. However, Sweeney's, a leading producer of DIY mole and gopher control products, does - and they want to hear your mole woe stories. This week, the company launched their 7th annual "I hate moles because" contest, a yearly nationwide search for tales of despair from mole-afflicted homeowners.

The winning submission will be awarded $500, with $250 and $100 awarded for 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. Five runner-ups will each receive a gift basket full of Sweeney's mole control weapons, including traps, repellents and baits. The contest runs through Aug. 31, 2013

The "I hate moles because" contest originated in 2007 when Sweeney's decided to create a forum for people to vent about their mole woes. Since then, thousands of battle-weary mole warriors have shared tales of strategic campaigns designed to get rid of moles and return lawns across America to their rightful suburban beauty.

Over the years, our contest has ferreted out a huge number of mole woe stories and some pretty creative solutions for getting rid of the destructive critters, says Stew Clark, Sweeney's Director of Research. "We like to think the contest provides a bit of mole control group therapy. Misery loves company, and it's good to know you're not alone when it comes to battling moles. While venting may make you feel better, Clark cautions that it's not always easy to get rid of moles. "There is no silver bullet when it comes to getting rid of moles. You can repel, trap or bait them. Whatever your weapon of choice, remain flexible and be willing to try different mole control options if necessary."

The "I hate moles because" contest rules are simple. Write a short story, pen a poem, shoot a video or submit a photo - anything that works to let Sweeney's know why you hate moles. "Stories about gophers and voles will also be accepted," says Clark, "This is an equal opportunity contest and no underground varmints will go unrecognized."

However, Sweeney's retains the rights to publish any mole woe submissions. Odds of winning depend on how many people enter the contest and how your mole woes compare to other contestants mole woes.
