Sweeney's® Adds Poison Moleworms™ to Product Line-up
ST. LOUIS—Jan. 31, 2012—Sweeney’s, an industry leader in DIY pest control products, has added Poison Moleworms™ to their extensive line of mole control products. Designed for use in underground runways and formulated to be palatable to moles, the new Moleworms resemble real earthworms, a main food source for moles. When eaten, the poison in the bait works quickly to kill the mole.
“Our Poison Moleworms are an exciting new development in mole baiting,” says Stew Clark, Sweeney’s Director of Research. “Moles eat almost 80% of their body weight in food each day, mostly earthworms. We conducted extensive research to formulate a bait extremely edible to moles. We also developed the Moleworms to feel virtually identical to real earthworms. If you close your eyes and hold a Poison Moleworm and a real worm in each hand, it’s hard to feel the difference.”
Sweeney’s Poison Moleworms are designed for use in underground runways or tunnels. Selecting the proper area to place the Poison Moleworms is key to successfully getting rid of moles in your yard. Begin by locating active tunnels. Clark recommends making one-inch holes in the roof of a tunnel, marking the openings with a locator flag and revisiting the holes after 24-48 hours.
“Tunnels that have had holes resealed are an indicator of mole activity and a good place to bait,” says Clark. “Poke a new hole every five to ten feet in the roof of the active tunnel, drop a Moleworm into each hole and reseal with dirt. Wait five days and then check the results using the same procedure to see if the tunnel is active. If so, retreat the tunnel.”
